Allen H. Hord, M.D. - Biography

Allen H. Hord MDDr. Allen Hord has been actively practicing Pain Management in Atlanta for over 20 years. Dr. Hord founded our Buckhead, Atlanta office in order to bring his years of experience to a practice where he can provide the highest quality care and service to the community. He practices a comprehensive approach to managing pain, which includes both interventional and medical techniques. Dr. Hord utilizes both his experience in treating patients, as well as his internationally recognized abilities in teaching and research, in order to provide quality medical care for patients with pain.

Dr. Hord’s experience in pain management began when pain clinics and training programs were rare. He obtained Board Certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology in 1987 and, following establishment of subspecialty Certification in Pain Medicine, he was one of the first to be certified in 1993.  Dr. Hord spent over 16 years on the faculty at Emory University, rising to the rank of Associate Professor of Anesthesiology. He was also a founding member of The Emory Clinic, Inc. Dr. Hord led the way in establishing a nationally recognized fellowship-training program in Pain Management and an active research program that still benefits patient care around the world. He has written books, book chapters and many clinical and research based journal articles. In addition, Dr. Hord has been invited to lecture to groups around the world regarding both his research and his techniques for patient care.
